Hello sweeties,
Btw this was written ages ago, this is not up to date. I hope you have had a productive start to the new year.
What I got for Christmas from my sis
My sister got me some really cute accessories for Christmas. She got me a Miffy pencil or make up case- which is handy because I was after a pencil case for uni. She got me Mario Badescu spray, lip mask and sponge- we weren’t sure if this is for the bathroom or the kitchen but it’s cute. I think it’s for the kitchen so it's my new washing up buddy. I also got some Miffy post-it notes which are gonna look cute but unhinged during exam season when they are all stuck up on my wall.
Then some bits for Berlin. My dad got me like a guide to the architecture of Berlin Stations which looks very interesting. This was purchased when they thought I was going to Berlin on my own and thought I would get bored but my sis is now joining me for a few days. But yeah on some of the days I will be on my own so I think I can have a dorky day to myself looking at Berlin stations. My sis also got me some leg warmers which are soo cosy and also a headband which I have worn loads.
I was spoilt. My sis loved the presents I got her <3
Planning for the New Year
I want to continue running when the weather warms up, I did do some running but stopped when it got really cold. I will start again.
I want to eat healthier. My uni kitchen is so grim and cold that I never fancied cooking anything exciting because I would liek to minimise the time spent in there. The girls in my flat sent me a snap of the mould behind the sofa and it was like totally black with mould it was gross. I almost can’t believe what I saw because what I recall seeing it was almost as if someone had literally painted the walls with black paint. But yeah when it warms up I will actually start cooking more exciting meals.
I am trying to work on being a more authoritative person. I remember once in my media class, years ago now but we were working in groups making a poster or like a PowerPoint, and it was two boys and myself. Anyway they were very engrossed in the poster we were making, and I was sat sort of awkwardly behind them (because they would not make fucking space for me). It was like I was invisible- they just did not listen to me at all, my ideas weren’t acknowledge, I wasn’t acknowledged like they didn't acknowledge my presence. I know my idea were not at fault because I was hepeated. It got really weird, it was like I was being messed with. It is a vivid memory of mine just because of how bizarre it was. But yeah it would be great to improve at influencing people, so maybe I should read up on it. Although in terms of that situation I don’t think I could have done anything, literally feels like that there was some sort of glitch in the matrix and I was actually invisible for 45 minutes. If anyone has any like good recommendations for like resources or books on this- let me know x
Vinted Purchases
I am going to Berlin and I know it will be really chilly and they are quite edgy in Berlin, so I went on vinted to update my wardrobe for hols. I have been slightly inspired by Bella Hadid's wardrobe I think her style is really nice. She dresses a bit sexy, demure and dorky- very me. But she also does athleisure really well and athleisure terrifies me. So anyway I am taking a bit of inspo from Bella. I will do a blogpost when my purchases turn up.
What I have been watching
I have not really been watching much actually because its exam season. I did watch The Breakfast Club (Netflix) which is good but it has aged really badly. There was one really uncomfortable scene where a boy sort of upskirts a girl and it is uneasy watching. There are other things off with the film. It does work if you fancy watching something spirited and youthful. I also watched a documentary called Evelyn (Netflix) and it follows a family as they go on walk in Scotland in memory of their brother who had died. It was very sad actually, but sort of beautiful too. I also watched The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker (Netflix), which is a documentary about a hitchiker called Kai who gained internet fame when he rescued a person, but there is something unnerving and volatile about Kai. This is a interesting story. There is a part after he has gone viral online where the TV producers are trying to get him to do interviews, sign contracts ect and it is just such a bad idea.
Revenge Week
So I had planned a revenge week after I completed my exams however, I got caught up with helping my parents with things and some exam work I was still doing. So unfortunately, it ended up being a revenge day and 1/2 a day. I worked till 9 in the morning on something, went to bed for a few hours. When I woke up it was too late to do anything really so I decided to go to the cinema on my own. I went to see The Menu which was really good. It’s sort of like a thriller and it’s a satire of a high end restaurant. It’s really chilling actually. Then I went to Nando’s. When I got home I watched Blade Runner, which was really great. I watched Blade Runner 2049 at the cinema a few years ago but it was very lost on me. However, I now want to go and re-watch it.
Then on Friday I went on a revenge field trip to Hampstead. It was lovely to be in Hampstead again. Last time was like three years ago when I went to the Freud Museum. This time I was visiting Keat’s House. I was really happy with myself because I got out of the house quite early. Keats House is like a small museum about Keat’s life, it’s quite a sweet museum, it’s quite small. I did feel like I learnt more about his life. It’s actually too sad. We so would have been friends. Then after I decided, because it was still early in the day, I would go to another museum, Burgh House. It was free entry and it was quite sweet. I went to the café for lunch and had some avocado on toast. I looked round some boutiques and then I decided to walk to Camden, it’s like a half an hour walk.
Then I took the train home. I had such a nice day. It was the day before I went on hols and I did slightly overdo myself with walking. My parents did a self-guided architecture tour round Hampstead which sounds really interesting and I fancied doing it too but they couldn’t find the walking guide leaflet because it’s in a cardboard box somewhere. However, when they find it, I look forward to doing the walk.
Anyway, see you soon
Happy Hippo x
